First day of School Blues

This morning was the first time in 20 years that I didn't get up and wave good-bye to a child for the first day of school.
I used to put out my lawn chair and sit and watch all the busses go by. Drink my cup of coffee. Wave to any parents on the street who were doing the same.
I miss it. I looked forward to this day, I think, more than my children did.
What is it about the first day of school?

  2. Oh, boy does it ever.
I feel like it was literally yesterday when Sam was afraid to go on the bus. He would stand outside the bus door and not move. It took a few days of me trying, and taking him, and trying again. He was just a very shy kid. Afraid of the unknown.
He's finally over it now. Pretty much. He's turning out to be pretty awesome if I do say so myself. He has decided (sofar) that he wants to do Aides research. He has a theory and can't wait to test it out. He's thinking about SanFran Sisco. There is a really great opportunity there.
Now that I'm talking about his future, I guess the bus issue doesn't seem so important anymore.

  3. I remember BRANDON's first day like it was yesterday and he is 28! I had Brett in a wagon and we walked Brandon to the corner to get the bus. Brandon had his backpack on with a big smile! We waved as he got on the bus and as the bus was leaving we smiled and waved. Then I turned around and walked home with tears streaming down my face!
