A-Z Drummer

It's strange to look at my physique, age, style and say "Now there's a drummer for ya!".

But I am.

I received my first drum set when I was in 6th grade. Santa brought it. It was a teeny-tiny, blue, faux-metal and plastic set with one mini cymbal and one tom. Kind of like this one but not really.

My next big girl set came when I was in 8th grade. I still have it and I'm celebrating its' 40th anniversary soon..still with its' original heads. It was red. I have taken it apart to use in pieces with which to teach rhythm to my piano students. I use the bass drum in concert  band style. I made a mallet out of a shapely wooden dowel and layered pink (I said PINK) felt.

My beginning piano students love to pound the beat...usually around their first month of lessons. The snare stands on its own and the cymbal I have hung from a piece of ribbon, to use as a crash.

And now that I'm all grown up and old, fat and silly looking....I have an electronic drum set.

Oh, yes I do!

It's set up in the basement...Calling me....Play me...play me.....

Or give me to some young kid who will......

Anyone want a drum set?
